She’s never had a male friend before.
Unlike other men she’s met over the years, he has conversations with her about things that matter. Despite his obviously strong political leanings, he keeps it all under wraps around the other Crawleys.
It makes her feel special, as if she’s his sole confidante.
So when she sees him in close conversation with one of the maids, it creates a rather odd feeling deep within her chest. She’s not quite sure what to call it, but she has a sneaking suspicion.
She pushes it aside for now. Gwen needs to borrow a suit.
