This is an epic Monday among Mondays, and it's not even noon. Which, I suppose, means it's salvageable.
First of all, I just got back from an amazing weekend in Connnecticut. But yesterday I got back to town, had dinner with my mom, and didn’t get back to the apartment until 9pm, and didn’t get to bed until 11. And while it was a great weekend, it was just so FULL of stuff that I’m still exhausted. I had a great night’s sleep, but-- I'm still tired.
I feel like I woke up today at the top of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down. Major zit on my chin (ahhh, hormones), my hair is all weird, ad I’m wearing this blah sweater because half of my other sweaters have shrunk and are unwearable (showing half my lower back at work? I don't think so). I also don't have money to replace said sweaters, which is frustrating as hell.
Yesterday I left my gloves in the car of the woman who gave me a ride back from Connecticut, so I'm borrowing a pair from my parents that aren’t actually warm.
I was out of the office Friday afternoon, so I’m catching up on a ton of emails, PLUS we have five major events this weekend that two of my coworkers are traveling for, so work is busy as hell.
Finally, when I get home tonight, the house is a complete mess; there’s junk everywhere, books strewn all over, I have laundry to do, and a sink overflowing with dishes. And Wes has a big day-- he's got to do a lab writeup, his first round of grading, and more research. He won't be home until 7 or 8 at the earliest, and he'll be exhausted when he gets home.
.....I’m not quite ready for Australia, but it’s already just One of Those Mondays.
THINGS THAT WILL MAKE TODAY BETTER (because I decree it so):
- A bagel with strawberry jam for lunch (it's the little things, people).
- Being productive at work (really, I swear).
- Having a clean house once I'm done tonight.
- Maybe cooking something Interesting for dinner, if I'm feeling ambitious.
- Sitting and reading quietly tonight after I'm done cleaning.
- Perhaps a bath and a hair mask??
For now, I'm going to go try and get some work done, maybe check things off my to-do list, and look forward to later tonight, when Monday will be over, I'll have a clean house and clean clothes, and maybe even a glass of wine with a home-cooked meal.
