His father's son

This afternoon Isaac -- without my knowledge -- found a screwdriver. A real life screwdriver, not a toy.

While I worked away at the computer on my new LiveJournal layout (do you like it?), Isaac occupied himself quietly in his room disassembling his electronic keyboard, Percy the train (from a Thomas the Tank Engine set), and a couple of transformers.

I discovered the mayhem minutes before dinner was served, and could only pick up as many pieces as I could and hope that when Steve returns from hiking the Utah slot canyons next week he'll feel inclined and able to reassemble them all correctly. But my hopes aren't set too high.

Isaac vehemently argues that he can put it all back together by himself. And, maybe he could. But I'd at least like him to do it with a little expert supervision.

Samuel has finally started his rapid word acquisition. The dude rattles off at least ten new words a day, and I couldn't be more pleased. His potty training is going well, but he dislikes having to remove his underpants to use the toilet. He doesn't think he can do it by himself, though I'm pretty sure he can. He just needs practice and confidence.
