It was probably 430 when i got up, I was so afraid we were going to oversleep and miss or taxi that i kept waking up in the middle of the night, thinking i had overslept.
I laid in bed for about and hour, and then at 530 the hostal managered knocked or door to wake us. Sarah and i slowly got ready, and at 615 our taxi driver showed up to take us to the bus. it we ended up waiting a good 25 minutes for that bus. Through the whole trip kathy kept telling us about preuvian time, which is basically whenever. Kind frustrating for a punctual person like myself, but never the less the bus showed up eventually. there was about 20 people in our group, about half spanish half english.
It took about 20 minutes to get to the train station. Sarah and I had yet to hve breakfast, so we ran into the station to see if they had any food for sale. It looked like all there croissants and sandwichs were all gone, but the lady behind the desk pulled out a couple of chix croissants and a couple cheese. So we each got a cheese for brkfst, and a chix for lunch, with some pringles and a snickers to top it of.
The train ride wasent too bad, i had a younger american guy sitting next to me, so i was a little cramped in. I listend to my ipod, read harry potter, looked at and admired the gorgous scenery. At oner point the guy next to me started to fall asleep. I watched as his head kept inching closer to my shoulder, and within about 30 seconds his head had fallen onto my, and he started rubbing my shoulder, thinking it was a pillow no doubt, I started laughing, which woke the guy up, poor thing he was so embarresed. I just told him it was fine, and tried not to laugh.
We got to the base of the mountain at about 1130. Our instructions where to hope on a bus immediatly and head up to the top. It took us a few minutes but we eventually found our way. it was a 20 minutes ride up to the top of manchu picchu, so sarah and i decided to scarf our lunch down on the way. It was a really beautiful ride up. Though one thing I am not a fan of is driving up and down mountains, really fast, on gravel road, with no side rails. i kept thingking the bus was going to skid, tip over, and send us tumbleing down the cliff.
To break my thoughts of that terrible fate, a bag decided to fall ontop of my head during one of those hairpin turns One of the guys sitting next to us failed puch his backpack far enough into the overhead compartment. It wsa a little bit painful. I dont think the guy even said sorry. Sarah thought it was funny.
We got of at the top and made our way to the entrance. we hear one of the tourguides calling our name, so we went over to where he was. We were the last people, so upon our arrival we were told we could enter.
We had a very big hill to climb. I couldent really see where we were going, as there was trees and bushes in the way, so i just kept following the line. Alot of people had to stop and take a break on the walk climb up, but sarah and i just kept trucking. I took the responsiblitly of carrying the backpakc though, so that added about 25 more pounds of weight for me to lug, but If Sarah wasent going to stop, the I wasent going to.
We finally made it to the top, and as we came out of the bushes into the clearing, we got the most breathtaking, awe inspireing, most gorgous view or manchu pecchu, and possibly any other place in the world, that i had ever seen. Sarah and I just looked at eachother and said, yep, this whole vacation was worth it just for this.
