There honestly wasn't much for George to adjust to these days; it'd only taken a month for him to get used to everything, crazy magic and all, and he had something of a routine down by now. He didn't have rounds, but he still headed to the compound at the same time every morning for breakfast, barring hangovers, ill-advised (but great) one night

I don't even notice I'm about to walk into George until I do it. I was only distracted for a fraction of a second, but it was apparently enough. It's instinct that makes me grab for the shoulder in front of me to keep me steady. I look up to see who it is I just bumped into. "Okay," I say instead. "Actually, I think I'd like that more. It sounds nice."

I bet most people have already eaten. I don't really care about the food itself much anymore, anyway, but I am interested in sitting down with him.

"Did you have any other plans today?" he asked, holding the door open for her.
The answer George was looking (and hoping) for was 'no'.

No, definitely worrying.
"I - no, not at all," I reply, carrying my plate carefully. That's one thing I can see myself doing. Dropping it and tripping. "Why?"
Reply
"Because it'd be nice if we could hang out today. If you want to, that is, you don't have to, but I'd like that."

There were worse things he could do than do nothing with Cyd.
