"The velocity comes when it warms up and it's not 35 degrees outside. I'm not a guy who can go out there without sleeves on and just John Wayne it kind of thing. I like it a little bit warmer than it was."

Yeah, Prior, 47, 35, all the same...

He was so good. Glad to see it. Even with Wood struggling, everybody feels better when Prior's on. And the two hits, that was my favorite part.

So my brother separated his medial epicondyle growth plate. Right elbow. It isn't too bad, all told, they caught it at the first sign of pain, so he won't need surgery. But 2-3 weeks without throwing at all, another 5-6 before he can think about throwing a pitch. Not that bad, but you know. Tell a 16 year old pitcher he can't throw for a month and a half, especially given he's the only real pitcher on the team. Not to mention he plays every infield position when not pitching. He can still hit, so he'll DH until cleared, probably. First injury - big test for a kid, though, psychologically.

Got my plane ticket to Houston, and Cubs tickets on Friday (the 29th). Psyched about that. Staying like across the street from Minute Maid, too. Well, because that's where the real thing I'm going to is, but still. Exciting.

Braves and Cubs are off, so I'm going to have nothing to do today. Ha. Carolina's freshman midweek kid, Andy Gale, threw a complete game shutout against Davidson on Tuesday. They're only a mid-major, yeah, but that's outstanding. 10 strikeouts. From the freshman. Who isn't even in the weekend rotation. But. Miami this weekend, and - OH! Any of you baseball fans should watch my boys, we'll be on ESPN2 on Saturday (7pm) and ESPNU Friday and Sunday. But ESPN2! It'll be Daniel Bard, and he's going to be drafted next year, so you know you want to watch...

Ok, I'm going to be late to breakfast.
