Brain fry
We let our guard down way too much today. First there was the heat. It was more than ten degrees cooler today than it was yesterday, but it was still 93 degrees, which is still hotter than is reasonable. Or rather, hot enough to cause health problems if you're not careful. We did stay hydrated, but since the extra deluxe heat had already weakened us, we may have pushed ourselves juuuuust a little too hard. ...Or maybe the blahness today was actually residual blahness from yesterday. At any rate, blah.
Then there was work. We already realized yesterday that we kind of need to step things up if we're going to meet all our deadlines. Nevertheless, we also agreed to a new series. We only did it because the publisher said it was okay to push the first deadline back, so it won't be our problem until next month, so that was all well and good, but then! we suddenly had three chapters of a semi-simulpub come along, and that publisher wants a chapter every two days. And since we'll be going to Disneyland for three days starting in two days, that means we get two days to translate three chapters...on top of all the other stuff we still need to get done. We should have our weekly and both our monthly simulpubs tomorrow, too, so this is very exciting...
And there are other little things we need to address--paperwork that needs to be filled out, a Paris itinerary to discuss... It's supposed to be even cooler tomorrow, so hopefully our brains will recover from the frying and we'll have more focus to spare on stuff like that. Sigh.
Today I'm thankful for managing to finish a pretty good chunk of work today, having lots of cool things to work on, our Target trip not impacting our work too much, the forecast predicting highs in the seventies for the next several days, and ice cream.
