Our sister just shared a philosophical thought from her son, our nephew Chase: Love is friendship times eleven! I'm really interested in knowing how he came up with that exact formula. Why eleven? Why not ten? Or a hundred? Since friendship is actually a part or variety of love, eleven does make more sense than a hundred. It's just so specific...
Anyway. Sometimes I think maybe I should cool it with all the Miraculous writing, because variety is the spice of life and all that, but other times, I figure if it's the main thing I'm thinking about, I might as well write what I know. The point is, of course, that I've been thinking about Miraculous, and this morning something occurred to, which I will expand on under a cut.
It occurred to me just how dangerous it could be that Felix "Stickyfingers" Fathom has an exact replica of the Adrien camo version black cat Miraculous. All it would take is a quick visit to see his cousin, and boom. New black cat holder. ...Of course, that would require him to start shaking right hands like a normal person, unless he were to grasp Adrien's right hand in both of his in a gesture of cousinly concern or something. Also, we're pretty sure by now, even sweet, trusting Adrien has learned to be careful around Felix, so he probably wouldn't be so quick to hold his right hand out to ol' Stickyfingers.
Nevertheless, assuming Felix isn't actually a good guy now (which we do), stealing Adrien's Miraculous isn't only something he would do, it's pretty much the main thing he did do up through season four. Just going around stealing jewelry. Wait a minute, it didn't end with season four! He stole Kagami's ring in season five, too! Of the thefts we know about, he stole Gabriel's ring, Gabriel's fake Miraculouses, all of Ladybug's Miraculouses (minus the ladybug, of course), and Kagami's ring. He's got a pretty long rap sheet. We're just lucky Flairmidable was generous enough to shake Chat Noir's left hand in Strikeback.
I actually already had a theory going that part of Perfect Alliance was imprisoning Adrien so they (unspecified "they," but in this theory it was Gabriel and Felix, and maybe Madame Tsurugi) could get his Miraculous, because Felix has it all figured out because he's that smart. But then I remembered his kleptomania and it occurred to me that they didn't even need an elaborate scheme for it.
The worst part is that Adrien wouldn't even be able to ask anyone for help, because it would give away his identity. Then I was like, "That's okay, he can easily arrange to go see his cousin. Amelie would never turn Adrien away!" But then I remembered that in Emotion, Amelie crashed the Diamond Ball on Felix's instructions. That's where Amelie was convinced that Gabriel and his ilk were all monsters, so now all Felix has to do is say, "Mom, Uncle Gabriel is using Adrien for his evil purposes! He's not bad, but you can't trust him! You know he can't say no to his father!" I always wondered why Felix would have sent Amelie to that party, and now I have a plausible explanation.
The only hope, aside from Ladybug being able to solve any problem of course, is that Plagg would realize something was up and manage to go warn Adrien before Felix becomes his new master and orders him not to leave his side.
Today I'm thankful for the adorable philosophy of our nephew, more fun Miraculous theories, getting to translate a super cool chapter of manga, getting some really cute pics of Mew in Pokemon Snap, and the parking lot paving being done (at least for today).
