Our week started off strange and continues to be strange. I mean, we knew today was going to be different, because our new computer hadn't arrived yet, which meant we wouldn't be able to do our job. On top of that, today was the day early access tickets went on sale for "Oogie Boogie Bash -- A Disney Halloween Party" (I think the name is just a little too much), and, as I mentioned in a previous post, we had promised our friend Cecille that we would try to get said tickets for her and a couple of mutual friends.
All of that was well and good, shouldn't have been a problem at all...except that our internet provider had a rather inconveniently timed service outage just this morning. For all I know, we could have waited for our internet to come back and there still would have been plenty of tickets to go around, but I've been having a different time gauging the extreme levels of fandom that have been going on for Disney lately, and it's also true that (if we remember correctly) Cecille & Co. tried to get into the Oogie Boogie Bash last year and failed.
So, much as I hate trying to do finicky internet things on my phone, I used my phone to enter the virtual queue. Thankfully, it was only about half an hour long, and we didn't need internet for Athena to play Pokemon Snap while we waited. Also thankfully, we didn't have to attach the tickets to my annual pass, so we only had to buy three tickets and not commit to attending a party we're only tangentially interested in. But we will, of course, join them during their non-party Disneyland trip...unless they decide we're not cool enough for them. XD
The other good news is that they wanted to go in the middle of September, so it won't interfere with our current Paris plans. Still no word about Cecille's Tokyo trip, though, so we don't know how that might affect things.
...After that we pretty much gave up on everything and played Pokemon Snap for the rest of the day. I guess sometimes you just need to do stuff like that. But we also did laundry, and while we were out, we met a very friendly cat who saw us and immediately came over for pettings. And Athena got a neat little puzzle book in the mail that's all in French! It's got word finds and crossword puzzles and things, so maybe it will help her with her studies.
Today I'm thankful for managing to get online despite our internet outage, the virtual queue not being super heinous, a chance to help our friends, getting to meet a very friendly kitty cat, and puzzle books in foreign languages.
