A bit of escapism
Oh man, today has been quite a day. It actually started out fine, but there have been developments on the travel planning front that have thrown everything into chaos. We're going to have to think about things and make some decisions, but there are just so many factors to consider that it overwhelmed us, so after we got all the information we need we decided to save processing it for later and run away from the world.
And then we watched The Final Day again, which really didn't help matters. But on the bright side! I put together some interesting details and came up with a really cool theory either for what really happened that day (we're still determined to believe it was all a dream) or a really cool AU fanfic.
Since I've been embracing the nerdiness of obsessing over Miraculous the last few days, I was making a mental list of all our theories and speculation, and I remembered our theory about Felix and Gabriel switching places throughout season five. I don't dwell on it too much, because magically switching places is not a thing that the series has suggested is a thing in this universe (yet?), so I feel like it's still pretty out-there. Nevertheless, there are scenes in season five that have us going, "Are you sure that's really Gabriel?"
The details in question today come first from Passion. When Mr. Bug and Lady Noire are in Nathalie's room, Gabriel comes in and he specifically notices Lady Noire's ring, almost as if he had never seen it before. We always thought that was a little strange, because Gabriel noticed the Chat Noir ring all the way back in season one. He knows what it looks like, so it's not like he needs to make a mental note of its appearance, and he's dealt with Lady Noire before, so it's not like he would be like, "Aha, so she's using the black cat ring." Duh she's using the black cat ring. We don't know how to explain it, so I like to think it's actually Felix in Gabriel's body (thanks to the twin rings of Graham de Vanilly), noticing the ring for the first time.
The second important detail is in Deflagration, when Adrien steals the Ladybug earrings off of Monarch. The whole scene goes into slow motion as Monarch glares over at Adrien, who also happens to not be wearing the black cat ring. Gabriel knows that Adrien normally wears a ring, and now he happens to not be wearing it at exactly the same time that he has the black cat Miraculous.
In Emotion, we learn that Felix now definitely knows that Adrien usually wears a ring. He may not have known that before this point, because he never wore a ring when posing as Adrien before this season. But he knows now, and he even made a fake version of it.
So one theory we have is that Felix has been slowly working to unmask Ladybug and Chat Noir, and he's now learned that Adrien is almost certainly Chat Noir. And we also have a theory that he's been working with, or manipulating, Gabriel for all of season five. What if the real purpose of Perfect Alliance, or one of the real purposes, was to get Adrien to fall asleep so he could take the black cat Miraculous from him?
Then Felix can use the ring to pose as Chat Noir, thus easily earning Ladybug's trust so he can eventually get her Miraculous. Tadah!
Today I'm thankful for finally figuring out what information we really need, having most of that information, work going really well today, having plans to go to the temple tomorrow, and having plans to watch the Miraculous Paris special again very soon.
