The end is coming
The latest volume of Noragami came out in Japan today (or rather, its release date is tomorrow, which is already today in Japan because of time zones), and lyschan, who is following the news more closely because we are dead to the world, also discovered that the next volume will be the last one. We are perhaps surprisingly unfazed by this news. I think we've just gotten to be pretty blase about everything. Is it because we're just so tired that we don't care about anything anymore?
It actually seems like a ton of the stuff we've been working on and thoroughly enjoying for years is ending soon, if it hasn't ended already. Edens Zero is on its way to the final battle, Fire Force already ended a long time ago (but we still have the last volume to translate). Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun seems like it won't go on much longer, the last volume of Wondercat Kyuu-chan we translated was the last volume of that...we think. It didn't really specify, but it was very conclusive. Land of the Lustrous certainly can't go on much longer, and the author of In/Spectre has hinted that they're working to a final conclusion.
Heck, we even read once that Miraculous season five was going to be the end of the Hawk Moth stuff. It's already been renewed for two more seasons, but I think if it hadn't been, we'd be like, "Well, that's just life," and continue to watch the series on endless loop ad infinitum into eternity.
In all honesty, it is sad to think that we won't get to see any new developments with these characters we've come to love so much. (I was going to say "these characters we've become so attached to," but we're feeling rather detached right now, so that may not be accurate.) But on the other hand, it will be nice to see all of them get their happy (I hope) endings, and then there will be room for new, and hopefully exciting, adventures with new friends (by which I mean fictional characters) to meet. So I think I'm more excited than sad, because if Miraculous has taught me anything, it's that I can always go back and relive the adventure again. And again and again and again.
Today I'm thankful for getting to work on Noragami, there still being a little more left in that adventure, work going well again today, getting to look forward to new adventures, and also getting to look forward to hopefully getting to take a break before too many new adventures come along.
