Avalanche!

I feel like today was a little bit surreal, but maybe I'm only thinking about the one thing that happened at the grocery store. I was distracted about something, so I wasn't looking where I was going, and I pushed the cart into a hanging display. I didn't feel any resistance, so I kept going (still not looking ahead of me), and suddenly there was an avalanche of HotWheels toy cars and pie servers. It the strangest thing. There were toy cars and pie servers everywhere!

Fortunately, the people at the grocery store were good-natured about it. There was no one around at first (except for another shopper who just laughed at us), so we did what we could to move everything that had been strewn across the aisle out of the way. We were under no illusion that we were capable of restoring the display to what it had been before (and that might not have been the best idea anyway, considering how easily it fell). And by the time we had cleared a path, some of the store employees had showed up, and they were laughing, too. So at least we all got a good laugh out of it.

And then we came home and did chores. We finally decorated our Christmas tree (which we set up a week ago), and that meant pulling out the ornament that Cecille bought for us the last time we went to California Adventure together. I guess our "Gaston and the Silly Girls" cosplay gets brought up more than we realized, because she saw this Gaston ornament and decided that we had to have it. So we thanked her for her kindness, brought it home, and put it away until it was time to decorate our Christmas tree. And it wasn't until we were trying to get the abnormally-difficult-to-remove tag off of it, and discovered an instruction booklet for batteries, that we realized it had batteries for some reason. So Athena examined it and found the switch, and that's when we found out that it sings! You push the button, and Gaston starts singing about eating all those eggs, and the song just keeps playing until he sings, "I use antlers in all of my decorating," which is the pose that the ornament is in (it's Gaston, sitting in his big manly hunter's chair, in the pose from that line in the song). So it's even more awesome than we realized...and we may have to get another one for our friend Gaston.

And then we played Pokemon Scarlet and got super lost trying to find the psychic gym. But after way too much time searching (it's okay; we got to level up and evolve some Pokemons, so it was still beneficial), we finally found the cave that leads to the city with the psychic gym...and then it was time to turn off the video games, so now here we are.

Today I'm thankful for there being no casualties in the great avalanche, getting our chores done, our Christmas tree finally being fully decorated, finding out there's more to the gift Cecille got us, and finally finding the path to that gym.

friends, christmas, pokemon, beauty and the beast, life
