Renewals! Cancellations! Hooboy, it's that time of year again! Isn't it exciting? It may be the most excited I've been this TV season, which is more a comment on the current state of shows being boring but whatever.
Reactions:
* COUGAR TOWN LIVES! And with that some TV network I've never even heard of before (and I've usually heard about ALL of them) becomes my new favorite network. Well done, TBS! This is by far the show I'm most excited is coming back, I thought it was a goner and I need it in my life so bad. PENNY CAAAAAN! <3
* Community and Parks & Rec ... shortened season for Community = less good, and I don't know how serious/accurate those rumblings about it being their final seasons were, but it wouldn't surprise me one bit. Nevertheless, I'm happy they're both coming back in any capacity, especially considering what a knock-out Community's latest ep was (I laughed so hard I almost choked).
* And so, as expected, Hart of Dixie was cancelled.... I'm sorry, what's that? It wasn't? WAIT WHAT?! *Falls off chair* Wooow. I haven't been this blown away by a renewal since Haven! Feelings = mixed, because it's been sucking preeeetty bad lately, but on the other hand: WADE AND HIS FACE AND HIS CHEST! :D
* On the other hand: A solemn but hearty good riddance to Ringer and The Secret Circle. I'm sorry, I know a couple of people on my flist liked them, but they were just so baaad. I really really wanted both shows to be awesome, but they just ... never quite got there. I mourn their failed potential, but not their inevitable demise. :/
* Some actual mild sadness about the cancellation of The Finder, which I found to be a pretty delightful and harmless show that made for excellent TV-company. :( Look, it's actually pretty hard to find appropriate dinner-shows! Comedies are out because they too often do gross jokes (plus they're short, which makes me eat too fast), any procedural focused too much on the forensic is obviously a no-go, ditto on sci-fi shows that steer toward horror, anything too exciting/upsetting... It's a pretty narrow field of shows that can be watched while eating. Also, Willa was awesome.
* Outrages: Whitney lives on (KILL IT, KILL IT WITH FIRE!) and The CW orders The Carrie Diaries (whyyyyy with the remakes and prequels and continued existence of Sex and the City?!? And CW, did you learn NOTHING from the GG spin-off backdoor pilot? NOBODY CARES ABOUT PREQUELS.) Oh, and Beauty and the Beast too, but I'm sorta looking forward to mocking that trainwreck of terrible Kristin Kreuk-"acting".
I think that's everything relevant to my interests (or disinterests). Ah, right, Happy Endings (*shrug*) and Gossip Girl (*double-shrug*: one for it being renewed and one for it being the final season. However, if they end it with Dan/Blair, I will throw things at my TV.), and Nikita and Fringe (aka the two shows I was kinda hoping would be cancelled so I wouldn't have to catch up with them). Was there anything else? I can't even remember anymore, so many news! I think most of the others were no-brainers, though, nothing terribly surprising or relieving. And I think that's ... basically all the shows I was holding my breath for? Could that be right? Can I relax now? I think so!
Of course, I'm not at all relaxed, thanks to stupid Rookie Blue elbowing it's way back into my brain-space. Seriouosly, two freaking stinking promos, one slightly angsty bad-fanficky line and it's straight back to Sam/Andy-on-a-loop in my head? I SUCK. MY BRAIN SUCKS. MUST EXORCISE THIS DEMON SHIPPER OBSESSION. I'm trying to fight it, but I don't have much to distract myself with. >_<
Lastly, I have recently (because I'm a hermit) been made aware of the Caramelldansen viral vid, thanks to it being the female Pandaren dance, and I LOVE IT. That is some catchy shit, that is, and I'm just sad I missed it until now. I'm just a wee bit proud it's Swedish too.
Gonna go fall down dead now.
