I needed some comfort food without spending any money, so I took an apple crisp recipe I had for my slow cooker, a bunch of apples I had kicking around, and went nuts. turned out absolutely frickin' DELICIOUS!
if you have a slow cooker and would like some apple cinnamony yumyums, here's what I did:
(also so to remember what I did for the next time I want some!)
took all the apples i had, which i didn't count, so.. uh.. a bunch.
sliced them up with my apple corer/slicer (yay, IKEA!)
mixed apple slices in a bowl with a heaping tablespoon of cinnamon, a cup of granulated sugar, tablespoon plus a splash of lemon juice, and a teaspoon of all purpose whole wheat flour.
in a seperate bowl, melted half a cup of butter and mixed into that 1 cup of dark brown sugar, and 2 cups of rolled oats (yes, this is seriously stuff I just had laying about my kitchen...)
put about half the oat stuff on the bottom of slow cooker, then dumped in the apples, then the rest of the oat stuff. high heat for 3 hours (could have maybe done left).
DELICIOUS WARM CINNAMONY GOODNESS.
it's possible I could eat the whole potful tonight, except i'm too comfy on the couch to get up for more...
