An updatey kind of thing

This three day weekend was desperately needed. Yesterday it rained and I didn't go out at all, which was a nice change of pace. Didn't get much writing done. I have some interesting prospects for paid non-fiction in addition to the Previously blog, so I'm focusing on that rather than trying to figure out how to write a good short story ( Read more... )

That reminds me that I need to get my stuff ready fro an absentee ballot, though I am not too enthusiastic about it like I used to be.

In Louisiana, my new Congressman Bobby Jindal will be re-elected without any problem. That is the only Federal election and others are small events that I am not aware of.

Now if I changed my registration to Texas, FT Hood's Congressman will be re-elected (no scandals or problems) and Kay Bailey Hutchison will be re-elected. The governor's race is of some interest, but that's about it. I may also have to go back to one of the two major parties again so my vote counts.

Now, for NY state, it's more interesting though I predict Spitzer, Clinton, and Maloney will all win.

I may be on lj discussing battleground states along with a few predictions of my own. Last two elections I was overseas, so I was a few hours ahead and the results were well known when I got up.

I can understand part of your dismay at the state of things, though I always find something fun about the elections, even though I do not have any strong feelings about anyone running. I am curious about my old Congressman Bill Jefferson, as he has a load of scandals bubbling up to the surface. The TN, NJ, and CT Senate races are also interesting, and traditionally the sixth year of a Presidency has always been very bad for the party in power. The only exceptions have been Monroe and Clinton. I'm also curious about Governor's elections in Maryland, California, Illinois, and Hawaii; also the Louisiana Governor's race in '07 to see if Katrina will be the end of Governor Blanco or not.

As for Rumsfeld, I don't like to speak ill of my boss, but yeah I wish he would resign or be "encouraged" to do so.

In New York State the Democrats have no serious competition.

And the elections can be fun. Politics is highly entertaining, so I don't imagine following the local (national) politics will get me too depressed and if I'm lucky hilarity will ensue as various politicians say inappropriate things.
