An updatey kind of thing

Sep 03, 2006 11:41

This three day weekend was desperately needed. Yesterday it rained and I didn't go out at all, which was a nice change of pace. Didn't get much writing done. I have some interesting prospects for paid non-fiction in addition to the Previously blog, so I'm focusing on that rather than trying to figure out how to write a good short story ( Read more... )

...the milk glass thing will never cease to be funny, though... But yeah, certain XF arcs are more preposterous than others.

Am very meh on Veronica Mars. Almost thinking of not downloading, though I'd miss the Dohring and the Kyle Gallner and some of the other actors.

We have an election coming up in two weeks, and I just... _jems_ discusses some of the differences between Swedish and US politics here. In Swedish terms, I'm a conservative, which probably would translate to "middle of the road", the sane spectrum of moderate republicans/moderate democrats. Our way of life is just so different from yours; I can't really explain it.

Will check out the links later; am too sluggish right now.

The milk glass is right out of Hitchock.

Speaking of which, your icon, Yay.

VM season two was pretty good, I'm still in. I'm on the fence about Lost though. Just...lost interest (so to speak).

I'll have to check out that link, thanks. I'll bet we'll have some interesting things to discuss in the coming months. It's great to hear your perspective (especially when my head feels like it's going to explode again...)

*coughs* Couldn't resist.

I never watched Lost; I've caught bits and pieces on television, but it never really tempted me. I like Terry O'Quinn, though. ;-)

*sighs* Most of my US f-list is populated by insane liberals, and well... I understand that there are frightening issues at hand, but... I guess I seek more reason and less drama. Discussions are great, naturally. :-)

What? Drama on livejournal? No way! *g*

It is frightening, and there is a lot of anger. Mostly I see it expressed constructively--a link, a phone number to call; without insults to the other side. Of course the latter sort of ranting exists too.

I always hope both sides can make their points calmly and rationally but passionately as well. The worst thing would be silence, although the whole situation has me so depressed I find my ability to talk about it has died. (But I read things a lot--anything that isn't about people getting blown up. Now I just assume on any given day there will be a headline about people being blown up; no need to read about it for me).

That reminds me that I need to get my stuff ready fro an absentee ballot, though I am not too enthusiastic about it like I used to be ( ... )

In New York State the Democrats have no serious competition.

And the elections can be fun. Politics is highly entertaining, so I don't imagine following the local (national) politics will get me too depressed and if I'm lucky hilarity will ensue as various politicians say inappropriate things.

Love, love, love, Keith Olbermann, he makes the news palatable. If I must watch a news show that is not TDS I watch him. (He was also the only newscaster to cover election fraud and recount efforts in the last election.)

My intended viewing schedule is a little bussier, but there's no guarantee I'll stick to it. Check out my LJ for my schedule if your curious. Feel free to call me after Supernatural if you want to squee, btw.

It seems very likely I will need a to call you and squee.

I'm really trying to keep the TV list down this year. If I keep Lost, that's more shows than I'd planned. My solution to that is to let some sit for a few weeks on the DVR. BSG and SPN are probably the only two I need to see every single week.

I have to catch up on BSG I'm behind by about half a season. I'll have to DVR it though as it airs on Friday night. I'm also very interested to see where they go with Heros, could be great, could be a totally wasted opportunity.

Haven't made much progress past him getting off the plane. But I'm planning to post reactions as I go, mostly for your amusement :)

Hm, I suppose I should find out when and where shows premiere. I don't even know what channel CW is supposed to be on...

The only premiere date that's branded in my brain is Supernatural's. The rest I had to look up.
