The Purrfect Dissection

The scalpel landed on the floor. The teacher gave Ed a stern look as he blushed and quietly picked it up. "I told you to be careful, Ed. You could hurt someone with the scalpel." She went on helping the other students. This had been the first time Ed had done any kind of dissection. He was a little nervous and didn't want to make any mistakes but apparently he had already proven to the teacher that he didn't really know how to use the scalpel. He slowly walked back to his table where the group had been waiting patiently. Something was different about the group but he couldn't decide what it was. Maybe he was just imagining things. It wasn't really important anyway. The group soon pushed him towards the board where the animal lay. Suddenly everything seemed to stop as he looked in horror at what was being dissected. Everyone looked at him, wondering what was wrong with him. "Its ok if he is scared. Ill do it. Ed, give me the scalpel." Ed couldn't move. How could they continue? He clutched the scalpel in his hand. His eyes sank to the floor. He tried to get the picture out of his mind. It was a grim sight. What lay in the dissecting board was a cat! "Ed, didn't you hear me? are you ok?" one student asked. Ed suddenly turned around and rushed out of the classroom. "Ed!! Ed stop! Ed! Ed!" His name was continually called. Someone shook his arm. He opened his eyes. "Ed. Ed? Ed wake up! You're gonna get in trouble." He couldn't believe it. The whole thing was a dream. Ed slowly looked around. "Good." he said to himself. " We're not dissecting cats. It was only a dream." He licked his paws and went to his group. They had just laid out the board, ready for the dissection. The teacher soon began to pass out the animal. "Class be careful with the humans, we don't want to make a mess." Ed drew a sigh of relief and laughed to himself about how ridiculous it would have been to dissect a cat. No one would believe such a story.

Thanks for the idea Jenny P!!!
