The slowdowns from DDOS attacks I understand...but honestly, LJ, this is just silly ( Read more... )

Just a clarification question: when you say "Check off "view all journals and communities in my own style."" do you mean that that option should or should not have a checkmark?

Make sure the box is checked--you want to choose that option because then you can see your own custom comments pages everywhere instead of LJ's new default design.

Thanks so much! I actually changed my layout to Flexible Squares while I'm not 100% happy with the comment pages, it looks a heck of lot better than the default.

Thank you SO much for the handy LJ quick-fix! You're a rock star!

Oh, no problem--I saw others mentioning that as a solution and thought I'd spread the word.

*grumbly face* I'm looking at my own custom comments page now and I don't like it as much as LJ's old default style but I prefer to LJ's new comments page style and so, here we are.

One of the changes I most dislike is they got rid of the drop-down menu to select usericons. So anyone with a lot of icons (as I have), it takes forever to load and yeesh who thought that was a good idea?!

Thank you.

I thought I was okay but obviously it took a few days for the fugly to set in at my journal. I can still see the "new" settings after I've updated the settings but I'm hoping it will take effect when I log out.

Ugh.

You should be able to see the custom comments page once you've made those settings changes. Although today there was a short period of time where instead of custom comments pages, some of us were seeing the ugly nu!comment pages even if we were set to view everything in a custom view. A short while later, it was back to custom comments pages again.

I don't understand CSS and I'm not happy with my own comments pages but it's easier to use than LJ's nu!comments pages.

Ugh indeed.

I'm all in favor of people using the AO3 for archiving, not just because of the simple downloads but because it keeps a record of everything I've read which makes it a lot easier to find stuff again, rec stuff, etc.

It does seem to make it easy to keep track of reading. The history page, the tags and bookmark and rec tools...and as an author I do like using it as an archive.
