I gave in, I watched "Under the Red Hood."

I tried not to like it! But Neil Patrick Harris and Jensen Ackles sort of made that a losing battle before it started, and Batman and Joker were rock solid, IMO (Alfred sounded good too).

The animation is decent. It's not quite up to my favorites from the animated continuity but. Yeah. ZING. Got me in the heart.

He is Jason returned from the dead. The hand-wavy wheres and whyfores work as well as any of the comics other out-there plots, but it's on the emotional front where I had a lot of trouble buying that in the comics, with the character histories as I knew them. But the movie worked for me like gangbusters.

If you like Jason, this will break your heart in a beautiful, glorious shower of glittering shards. If you're like me and have Jason ambivalence, it will win you over and break your heart in a beautiful, glorious shower of glittering shards. It certainly mashed my Batman and his Robin emotional dynamics buttons.

Jensen really is THAT good in it, although I'm still kind of hung up over here on Nightwing! ♥ x a billion. There has not been enough animated!Nightwing in the world.
