These are the other mini-picspams I made recently. This was something I had to get out of my system. Dean+Castiel, two scenes, two episodes, in two seasons.
Screencaps by

ina_ami DEAN: Destiny? Don't give me that "holy" crap. Destiny, God's plan... It's all a bunch of lies, you poor, stupid son of a bitch! It's just a way for your bosses to keep me and keep you in line! You know what's real? People, families -- that's real. And you're gonna watch them all burn?
CASTIEL: What is so worth saving? I see nothing but pain here. I see inside you. I see your guilt, your anger, confusion. In paradise, all is forgiven. You'll be at peace. Even with Sam.
DEAN: You can take your peace... and shove it up your lily-white ass. 'Cause I'll take the pain and the guilt. I'll even take Sam as is. It's a lot better than being some Stepford bitch in paradise. This is simple, Cas! No more crap about being a good soldier. There is a right and there is a wrong here, and you know it. Look at me! You know it! You were gonna help me once, weren't you? You were gonna warn me about all this, before they dragged you back to bible camp. Help me -- now. Please.
CASTIEL: What would you have me do?
DEAN: Get me to Sam. We can stop this before it's too late.
CASTIEL: I do that, we will all be hunted. We'll all be killed.
DEAN: If there is anything worth dying for...this is it.

DEAN: What are you gonna do now?
CASTIEL: Return to heaven, I suppose.
DEAN: Heaven?
CASTIEL: With Michael in the cage, I'm sure it's total anarchy up there.
DEAN: So, what, you're the new sheriff in town?
CASTIEL: I like that. Yeah. I suppose I am.
DEAN: Wow. God gives you a brand-new, shiny set of wings, And suddenly you're his bitch again.
CASTIEL: I don't know what god wants. I don't know if he'll even return. It just...seems like the right thing to do.
DEAN: Well, if you do see him, you tell him I'm coming for him next.
CASTIEL: You're angry.
DEAN: That's an understatement.
CASTIEL: He helped. Maybe even more than we realize.
DEAN: That's easy for you to say. He brought you back. But what about Sam? What about me, huh? Where's my grand prize? All I got is my brother in a hole!
CASTIEL: You got what you asked for, Dean. No paradise. No hell. Just more of the same. I mean it, Dean. What would you rather have? Peace or freedom?
DEAN: Well, you really suck at goodbyes, you know that?

Feel free to discuss in the comments. I keep trying to write up thoughts on the 5x22 scene and it always winds up a conflicted, emotional rambling mess. I give up. *hands in the air* It was therapeutic to make the picspams, though!
Coherent stuff: the language in the second scene echoes the first, which seems purposeful (Eric Kripke wrote both scripts), and intended to be purposeful on Castiel's part -- he's using Deanspeak, and for me it's a mixed bag, Castiel's trying to reach Dean, offer some measure of comfort but he's also being condescending and throwing Dean's words back up at him. There's the bright, colorful palate for 4x22, which is on heaven's turf (the green room), and the muted, dark one for 5x22, on Dean's turf (the Impala). The first is Dean flinging himself towards saving Sam, so even though heaven's bright garish colors aren't trustworthy, the brightness also seems to signify hope, and the second is after Dean's lost Sam, and the color palate goes somber and washed out.
