tripoli8 last night posted the news about a new Batman animated movie with Jensen Ackles voicing Red Hood and Neil Patrick Harris as Nightwing.

Just. Y'know. Someone just said "Jensen Ackles" and "casting news" and "batfamily" in the same breath. The sound you hear was my inner DC fangirl snapping awake going WHAT? WHAT IS THIS? WHAT?

cut for brief blather about DC Comics )

batfamily, supernatural, flaaaaillllll

Haha, that seems to be the reaction from the fans who flowed from batfamily=>Winchesters.

SEE? SEE WE TOLD YOU.

The fannish symmetry of this is kind of beautiful.

The idea of Jensen Ackles in a Batman animated movie is pretty awesome. But... no Kevin Conroy or Mark Hamill? I'm sad.

Ah, those were the days.

I know. Although NPH as Nightwing sounds intriguing.

Possibly I didn't hear much after "Jensen Ackles" and "animated batman movie" -- my brain kind of shorted out. :D

The cast cannot make up for the Winnick's epic fail. He is a BAD writer for DC, and letting him adapt his own story is a recipe for more epic fail.

I'm more gleeing over the fannish convergence here than the actual story. I mean, Jensen Ackles voicing A ROBIN, and the most psychologically damaged one at that. It's too perfect.

Also, there is Nightwing.

It may be awful but I can't not see it!

OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG!!!!!!! This is better than Christmas and my birthday rolled into one! This is the best thing I've heard about in AGES. OMG!

It's still official, DC Animation owns my soul. And I don't want it back!

I thought I was done! And then I read about this and my head sort of asploded. Even though I have my doubts about the Red Hood story to begin with. I have to see this, even if it's awful.

Winchesters=batfamily. Yup.

There was just a little discussion about that w/the Robins and the Winchesters and definitely I think Dick=Dean. Though there was a funny point that Dick=Dean, Jason=Sam and Tim=Castiel because he's searching for God believing he's still alive when everyone else thinks he's dead.

I'm hoping this means Damian will be revealed to be already dead and a ghoul.

We're not closed either.

Dick is Dean, Sam always mapped well onto Tim for me. They're all Jason, because they all died (Adam is Jason, really. Or is Adam Tim? Maybe he's Tim).

You just made my brain stutter because I totally forgot to try to map Castiel into the batfamily thing. I guess in recent storylines, from what you're saying, he's Tim-ish but I don't think he maps well as a Robin. Except he's got the daddy issues..but behavior-wise he's more like Batman (and John). Pops up without warning, says cryptic things, acts like a dick, emotionally inacessible except for how he's actually a complete woobie underneath...s4 Castiel at least. S5 Castiel is less Batmanish and maybe more Tim-ish.

Bobby=Alfred.

Heh--yeah, it's mostly just the "and he's got his own search for dad coming on!" But usually I would definitely say Tim=Sam. If there was a Jason in the Winchester family he would probably have died. They don't really have a Castiel. Alfred definitely isn't him.
