This news is relevant to my interests
tripoli8 last night posted the news about a new Batman animated movie with Jensen Ackles voicing Red Hood and Neil Patrick Harris as Nightwing.
Just. Y'know. Someone just said "Jensen Ackles" and "casting news" and "batfamily" in the same breath. The sound you hear was my inner DC fangirl snapping awake going WHAT? WHAT IS THIS? WHAT?
I didn't read the Red Hood storyline and Jason Todd works best when he functions as a tragic symbol that haunts all the subsequent Robins and I was annoyed when they brought him back to life, and the Red Hood storyline ran at a time when DC Comics was doing a lot of things in the bat books that made me drop them and I haven't looked back since. However I'm still intrigued by these developments.
Like I wouldn't watch this, ha.
If Jensen was voicing Nightwing, I think I'd be near incoherent right now. Anyway, tripoli8 was talking about how she was in part drawn to the Winchesters because of the batfamily parallels and we got to talking about that, because I got into SPN at the tail-end of my DC obsession and babbled at various people about how Sam and Dean were like a pair of Robins and of course John was Batman. Sam and Dean's sparring session in the pilot is almost frame by frame a lot like one between Tim and Dick in one of the Nightwing comics, and then Sam had to go use that word "crusade." (I think they've gotten less batfamilyish since, but season 1, they were rather).
And then I got around to explaining my whole Jensen Ackles should play Roy Harper thing, and my brain went to the happy place.
Now, off to work, because we don't close during snowpocalypse.
