First up, the two written for me (again), reposted because they're terrific and I want people to see them:
Life
Conversations Neatly Placed in Tired Mouths by piecesofalice (gen) is a beautifully wrought fic where Charlie, Dani, and Ted hang out at Charlie's house, and there is cake. There's also wonderfully spot-on Charlie voice, where I could hear Damien Lewis' delivery in my head, and some wonderful, sharp character insights.
The Iron Giant
We Live On in Legend (gen, ref. to Dean/Annie) by
destina is a future!fic someone wrote me as a bonus treat that tells us what became of Hogarth Hughes, as well as small glimpses back of Hogarth growing up, and Dean and Annie's marriage. It captures the emotional feel and the humor and sense of wonder of the movie, and I maybe teared up reading.
And recs from fandoms A-F:
Alien movies
Subtle Salvation (Ripley/Hicks) by abyssinia
"They don't really belong anywhere, neither of them, anymore." Melancholy yet hopeful AU that follows Ripley and Hicks after the 2nd movie.
Killing Elvis (gen) by
hrdzakaTold via emails and instant messages with OFC's and OMC's, and brilliant, on various levels.
Beauty and the Beast (Disney movie)
Rose Without Thorn (Belle/Beast) by Ki (Spooki)
Interesting fic about what life is like for Belle post-movie.
The Breakfast Club
Most Likely To (Brian/Bender) by
kanekoBrian and Bender find each other years later. I really like the structure of this, the slow build of the relationship.
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid
bide (abiding) (explicit Sundance/Etta and implied Butch/Sundance/Etta) by
myysticLove the cadence of the language in this and the look into Butch's head, as well as the Butch-Sundance-Etta dynamic.
Casablanca
Sam in Casablanca (gen) by
hrdzakaSo, so good -- Sam's pov, beyond the events of the movie. Quietly heartbreaking.
Chuck
When He Catches His Reflection On Accident (gen)
mardiaPoignant take on what happens when Ellie finds out. The voices are spot-on.
Eloise
We Are Six (gen) by Nope
And oh my Lord
there is a boy there in shorts and a red striped shirt
so I say to this boy "Hello I am me ELOISE"
and he says "Valiant Spaceman Spiff has been spotted by a Zog!"
which was rawther unusual
Ferris Bueller's Day Off
Pointillism (pg-13; Ferris/Cameron/Sloane) by Sophie (Sophistry)
Spot-on, poignant, sweet and funny look at the relationship between the movie's trio, with flashbacks to Cameron growing up.
Friday Night Lights
bright yellow sky (gen; sexual references) by zulu
Really stunning, beautiful piece, from the pov of Jess Merriweather.
tennessee in may (Lyla/Tim) by arboretum
Insightful look at Tim Riggins. Vivid, all the characters feel spot-on.
