Sing the same delight

Dec 24, 2009 12:14

Hee! Go check out is it yuletide yet?

Well, now you've done it, I've seen the first two episodes of Band of Brothers, and need to see the rest of this NOW. Damian Lewis. Damn. Charlie Crews, now this. He does so much without dialogue and how he looks at things, and subtle reactions in his face. It's amazing to watch.

You need to see barkley's new Friday Night Lights vid, Joy to the World, which captures a whole lot of why I love this show so much, right there.

I'm a little late on this, but it always seems right this time of year, so here, have a poem:

The Shortest Day by Susan Cooper

And so the Shortest Day came and the year died
And everywhere down the centuries of the snow-white world
Came people singing, dancing,
To drive the dark away.
They lighted candles in the winter trees;
They hung their homes with evergreen;
They burned beseeching fires all night long
To keep the year alive.
And when the new year's sunshine blazed awake
They shouted, revelling.
Through all the frosty ages you can hear them
Echoing behind us - listen!
All the long echoes, sing the same delight,
This Shortest Day,
As promise wakens in the sleeping land:
They carol, feast, give thanks,
And dearly love their friends,
And hope for peace.
And now so do we, here, now,
This year and every year.
