I mostly agree with you, but one tiny par tof a sentence made me go 0__o:
"and that at one point she unleashed Bertie, and Winston and Bertie began "antagonizing each other" until Snyder separated them"

So, the lab runs up, starts hassling her dogs, and then she takes her dog OFF his leash? Sounds sorta weird to me...

Having said that, I totally agree with the sentiment with which you posted this. The "victim" here is an asstard. HE was wrong in this situation, and I'm quite sure he lied & inflated his monetary damages, too (7-800 bucks for stitches? 1500 to diagnose a torn ligament? criz-zazy)

On top of that, why is he after pit bulls? It wasn't even a pit that "attacked" his dog - it was a mastiff-mix, according to the article (and we all know from past experience that they would have called it a pit bull if they could have gotten away with it). I'm not saying mastiffs should be banned either, or that they're "dangerous" dogs, just that the guy doesn't even have any back up - the way this story plays out, it almost sounds as if the yap-dog (no offense, lhasa owners! I like them, but some ARE pretty yappy) and the lab went after the mastiff, and the pit just sat back and watched the action.

Honestly, I have no idea what that firt part is about. When I read that, I was kind of confused by it. All I can think of is, my dog got in a fight with another male dog (both on leashes) and I had to un-clip the leesh to untangle thema and get them apart. That might be a stretch from what happened since it wasn't well explained. Either way though, his dog should have been confined or else it wouldn't have occured (at least I'm hoping that how its looked at in court).
And I was waiting for someone to mention this! Why only pitties when there were two ZOMG LEATHAL WEAPONS (um, opposing breeds) involved. Seriously, it almost sounds like a setup since this man has been lobbying for a pit band before said incident.

"and that at one point she unleashed Bertie, and Winston and Bertie began "antagonizing each other" until Snyder separated them"

That part sounds like it could be either a bold-faced lie or it could be that the leashed dog momentarily escaped from its owner in the commotion (i.e. the leash was dropped for a minute). I do not believe that the owner who had the dogs on leash was deliberately negligent in this case.
