I own a pit mix.

I was calling for responsible ownership of pit bulls - which means not taking them to dog parks - imho.

Gotcha, nevermind. Like i posted below, I hadn't read your rant very carefully, just glanced and was like "huh?!" But I see now. Yeah lots of dog owners in general aren't cool with dog parks...

the whole dominance thing just needs to go the heck away.

my dogs never hump *anybody*. does that make them not dominant? they're both still dog-aggro though.

mojo has TRIED to hump another dog - but she put him in his place very, very quickly. he's only dog aggro with gsd mixes, because of the incident of two years ago (which i explain further in the comments of that post in chazhound.) There's a difference between him trying to dominate another dog, and how he gets towards GSD mixes... a really, really big difference.

Likewise, Midnight humps every dog she can, but isn't really "dominant" with people, and never aggressive.

I'm not being sarcastic, but what exactly is the difference between what rottiegirl is saying and what the OP's original rant was saying? I'm not as educated as I should be on breedism/bsl issues (i own a pug, they're not typically known to be aggressive, just goofy) and to me it looks like both are saying "pits are often dog-aggressive naturally, and owners should be responsible about owning them and not bring them to dog parks"

Can someone enlighten me?

OMG! I can totally train out dog aggression in a pit bull! I am Uber Trainer. Forget NATURE, I'll NURTURE the typical pit characteristics out of them!!
