Holy Diet of Death, Batman.  Owner gets dog from a pet store "breeder" and feeds it boiled chicken and low-fat (OMG YAY! That makes it safe, right?!) Dannon Peach Yogurt.  For some reason, the dog just won't eat dog food.  Owner would like to know if this diet is acceptable.  I particularly like the parts where she insists her dog is from ( Read more... )

Because obviously, being against irresponsible breeding falls outside the realm of intelligent, logical human beings and treads into PETA's area of expertise.

I hate puppy millers! I'ma go kill some dogs and blow up a research lab!

Hey now. I'm an AR activist (pshaw, we don't call ourselves ARA's) and I don't blow up buildings! Not even lego ones. I also don't like PeTA. But, I am one of those crazy vegan, animal rights activists who works for a farmed animal sanctuary and helps rescue dogs from Mexico. I'm crazy. Seriously.

Oh, I know that all animal rights activists aren't crazy (in a bad way). But that's usually what people who use terms like ARA are getting at... y'know... PETA...

And hey, if you ever need help transporting some of those dogs, we have a bunch of stir crazy Southern California members in driveforlife...

Thanks for the offer. I keep wanting to join, but I never see any drives in northern california (West Virginia is just a tad far east for me, heh).

The two people who run the rescue usually go down to do a speuter camp, then bring up 15-20 dogs from a massively disturbing "no-kill" shelter (over 2,000 dogs, un-speutered, housed all together, fed doughnuts for cripes sake!) They usually drive them up. I will talk to them about maybe getting some help for that - they could always use a little break from transporting all those poopers! :)
