so- the ceiling of our apartment was leaking, which was bad because we are in a basement apartment and therefore something in the upstairs apartment is leaking from who-knows-where. It was coming from the same badly patched up area where the last landlord said there had been a leak, but we had been assured it was fixed. So our landlord comes over today and removes the ceiling panel, only to find a wooden board holding up a lousy plastic bucket brimming with water!! That bucket had been there for eight months just collecting all the water! So we remove it and empty it, and as we are wondering what to do next, we hear the upstairs washing machine finish its cycle... and a torrential downpour of soapy, used laundry water comes out of the ceiling!! We could only stand gawping at it for a couple seconds before having the right mind to collect the water in a bin before it made a colossal mess- but it could have been a lot worse (if the landlord hadn't been there, if the table with all our schoolwork on at hadn't already been moved aside (!!!!) The drainpipe had slowly been coming loose and it chose that moment to unleash its full disaster. But I think it's finally been fixed right now.
