I was born and have lived in San Diego my entire life but I gotta say, fires are getting tiresome!
1994 Home destroyed by fire.
2003 Fire burns up to edge of property of different house in different location.
2007 Different house different location. Mandatory evacuation, fire to within one block making really, really big mess but house still standing so who am I to complain.
My heart breaks for those that lost this time. It's just so much work to rebuild. Things lost mostly can be replaced but the stress is crippling.
New York story....Daughter is friend of Nora Jones. Goes a couple of week ends ago to Nora's sister and her father's concert at Carnage. California girl is in strappy heels, cute dress, little sweater cover, looks around and sees only boots. She's slumping down in the front row next to Lenny Kravitz (don't really know who he is) convinced everyone is laughing at her. Lenny stands up, turns and says loudly "Forgive her, she's from California" and she dies a thousand deaths. Long night of sitar music.
