Teddy had his chin propped on his forearm as he stared out the window, watching the little window box that had come with the new apartment with a look of mild disappointment. No matter how much he coaxed and cajoled, none of the seeds he had planted in the specially bought soil would grow. Not even the tiniest of green shoots poked forth.
His mother assured him that all it would take was a little more time… but this was a woman who had managed to kill a cactus while they were living in their last apartment, so he was taking all of her advice with a grain of salt.
Teddy was about to give up on his staring contest with the window box for the day when an orange cat when bouncing past, chased by Speedball.
“Cool.”
