Everett knew, even before the other students grabbed him, that he was going to die. Monet was too far away for him to get all of the invulnerability he needed, and these people were not going to let him get to the bomb in time.
It looked so small, that bomb.
What was wrong with these idiots? They should have been running for their lives, but instead they were holding him in place while Adrianne Frost’s little present ticked the last seconds of his life away.
He was going to die, but he was going to make sure these boys lived. They were stupid, but they didn’t deserve to die because they’d been sent to the wrong school, or just because they were morons.
Nobody did. Nobody deserved to die like this.
