Victor rested his chin on his forearm and squirmed as Dr. McCoy peeled the bandages away from the knife wound on his back. He winced as the doctor gently probed the flesh around the slash and made noises that were probably supposed to be reassuring. “That seems to be healing nicely,” McCoy said, applying a fresh bandage and taping it down. “At the rate you’re healing, it shouldn’t even leave a scar.”
“It still hurts,” Victor said, wincing again. “It’s not infected or anything, is it?”
“Laura keeps her claws very clean, and we got this bandaged up very quickly. You’ll be fine, though I imagine it will hurt for a while longer.”
