Dorian’s Parlor is a monthly Steampunk event held at the Ormandy Ballroom of the Doubletree in downtown Philadelphia. Dorian’s Parlor is a celebration of the Steampunk aesthetic, which blends history with the future and adds a healthy dose of what might have been. Patrons dance, sip cocktails, enjoy hors d'oeuvres and partake in a one-of-its-kind lineup of bands, DJs, dancers and high fashion from the foremost neo-vintage designers. Dorian’s Parlor is fast becoming a household name for those who love Steampunk and all things neo-vintage.
The June lineup features the return of the delightful Psyche Corporation, which is “one part cyberpunk trip-hop darkwave music, one part robotics exhibition, one part dreamscape art.” The much-loved White Elephant Burlesque Society returns as well with a gypsy cabaret full of vaudevillian burlesque Dorian’s Parlor also features New-England based band Jaggery, an art-rock collective which weaves instruments such as harp, viola, piano, contrabass, and drum kit with other-worldly vocal stylings. For something a little out of the ordinary, check out Walter Sickert and The ARmy of BRoken TOys, described as “a Dada-esque circus carnival run amuck.” This month’s fashion show will feature the delightful designs of Jeximé, and Tsirkus Fotografika’s RA Friedman will present the project’s most memorable and intriguing portraits and discuss his unorthodox photo methodology.
The next 21+ event will be held Saturday, June 4th, from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m., in the Ormandy Ballroom of the DoubleTree Hotel, on the Avenue of the Arts in downtown Philadelphia. Admission is $25, and includes a drink ticket and hors d’oeuvres.
