I called my mom today, and all I really wanted was some words of inspiration. What did I get? The "What you're doing wrong with your life" speech

Well, my two cents (for all that'll get ya) is this:
Living alone and being responsible for yourself is a great thing. It puts things in perspective. You've just got to learn to discipline yourself to take care of your "have-tos" before you think about "want-tos." Finishing school isn't a bad idea...but I know as well as you do (and maybe Mom Rhea doesn't) that you have to do what you have to do, and sometimes you have to wait around and play stupid bullshit games because of school policies at whatnot. Don't sweat that. I am proud of you; you're one of the few friends that I have that has some semblance of order in their life. That should be enough for anyone.
As far as God goes...well, He's great and all that, but no one knows better than me how much soul searching it takes to get to a point where you are ever marginally comfortable with religion if you are a thoughtful, intelligent person (as you are). You can't blindly accept things; you are compelled to work it out for yourself. In your own way, and in your own time...and people telling you meaningless phrases like "get back to God" isn't going to make that any easier on you. Again, don't sweat it.
I hope that you don't ever get to the point where your a nameless faceless drone in a crowed of millions; I like knowing you.
