Dear Friends of Maeve:
Happy Spring! Maeve is doing well, sprouting just like the tulips in the garden. We are in a very good place with her spirits and her energy level, and we are grateful for each ache-free day. As we went off to the Boston Marathon the other day to cheer on the passionate F.O.M. Sharon Tassini who was running in Maeve's name to raise money for Dana Farber, I reminded our little band of supporters that the last time we went to the Marathon (2005) for the same reason, Maeve was frail and pale and had to be piggybacked. Not so this time. She even carried the bouquet she had chosen for Sharon, and said, "If Sharon can run for me, I can carry some little flowers." We trouped in there with no plan of which to speak for actually finding our beloved Sharon in the throngs of runners and spectators. As it dawned on us that we might never find her, we took a deep breath and used some FOM magic. Thanks to connecting with the right police officers and marathon officials who heard of our humble quest and felt inclined to help, we found ourselves in the VIP grandstands at the finish line. Not bad, huh? My Lily said, "I have a feeling that this is pretty special, isn't it?" If you follow this youtube link, you'll see Sharon crossing the finish line with her Australian buddy and support system, Lee. We perhaps should have edited out our screaming "SHARON!!!!!" and sobbing like basket-cases, but, then again, that's what we do when we are so completely overwhelmed with emotion at others' selflessness in Maeve's name.

If this clip moved you in any way, let me also mention that Sharon ran while injured and "offered up" her pain for the greater good of those who are suffering the physical and emotional pains of cancer. I know that times are tight, but I am respectfully including the link to her fundraising page. We love you, Sharon.

Speaking of how times are tight, MAJOR prayers were just answered as Micky's job was spared in a significant round of layoffs. He is a relatively new employee, but clearly a model one who is valued for his hard work. We are proud of you, Mick. PHEW!!!! Of course our relief is tempered by the reality of his coworkers who weren't so lucky, and we are deeply grateful that the Collins family was cosmically deemed exempt from this stress.

We hope that you and yours are well. Please enjoy Maeve and Finney's Easter picture.

Lots of love,
Auntie Stacey
