Shitsuren Chocolatier episode 9
In the Back Room, Souta is sitting on bed with Saekos' head on his lap. But hes thoughts are in time when he and Erena were talking about preferences in kissing. He wonders if it will ever be like that with Saeko. She breaks the silence by asking him if he will sell chocolates he made for her on Valentine. He tells her those were costly and time-consuming and she is not sure how to feel about it. On one hand she is sad but then she doesn't want other people to eat those. Mirroring how he stole Erenas' kiss, he does same with Saeko.
Erena is doing some shooting. She is pro and does everything with smile but when work is over her smile disappears. When she goes to Ricdor, Rikudou gets all fired up about "that guy" ditching her like that and not calling ever after. She defends that she was not his girlfriend or anything, he probably saw her like temporary thing and that is all. Ricudou asks her if they were getting along fine and if it was hard for her. She pouts that they were getting along cause she was trying but he points that all pairs in the world that are doing fine are investing in not hurting eachother because they know it is worth it. Then again, they were never dating... Ricudou is so pissed that trows pillow on ground and then has to apologize to other guests. Sekiya brings chocolates looking sharp. As she is eating Ricudou tells her story of chocolate being medicine for soldiers in the beginning. He wishes for these to be cure for Erena. Awwww! Ricudou takes invitation for Erenas' show and thinks she should give it to "that guy" and if he shows up, Ricudou will pull his hair. Or better cast a curse on him! LOL! I want you for my best friend! As she is leaving Sekiya thinks of Kaorukos' message where she said Souta wants to start properly with Erena. Yup, it is the one he NEVER ANSWERED!
Kaoruko thinks of last episode happenings. She is in front of shop when Erena comes in asking if Souta is there. Kaoruko says he is. When Erena wants to enter she sharply tells her it is better not to since he is not alone, Erena may be in the way. Kaoruko gets all bitter for Souta not telling Erena about return of "favorite wife" and when Erena defends him Kaoruko snaps at her for being all nicey-nice. She will lose to bad woman! Erena thanks her for telling her what is going on since it was hard not knowing and excuses herself. In the kitchen, Kaoruko rants about servants in Cinderella. They must felt that their master is out of his mind, searching trough whole country for girl whos' face he doesn't remember. She would have broke glass slipper if she was there! Olivier calmly tells that if servant did it after thinking a lot about everything and being sure that it is a right thing to do, that would be fine.
Saekos' husband is sitting alone in messy apartment and looks at wedding photo remembering parts of conversation with Saeko. At the same time, she is on bed with Souta and asks him to make chocolate that would be ok to not eat elegantly when you are stressed out. That is actually great idea! He promises to make one.
But next day, he has no clue what to make. Matsuri thinks it can be like those chocolates in big bags, economy choco. He is not sure, it may be but not quite like that. Olivier: If it is about stressed woman you should ask stressed woman, right?*looking at Kaoruko* She tells him to shut it. Souta gets idea about making choco bar which everyone agrees of. Kaoruko can't believe he can smile like that after bringing other persons wife in. She eats and casts hairy eye at Saeko who cleans in cute apron. Saeko apologizes and goes upstairs. Just then Matsuri comes in and Kaoruko brings her to the side to ask her if she finds Saeko being in shop, weird. Matsuri agrees but is unable to do anything since Dad was ok with it. Kaoruko wonders if Saekos' husband doesn't know where she is. Next thing you know, Husband barges in Back room to find Saeko and Souta in bed. He treatens to crush "choco la vie" with writing awful article about it. And then shop is closed and all customers go to Ricdor. Souta ends up working as host with ridiculous hairdo. Kaoruko comes to yell at Souta for being idiot. He can start over and she will be there for him trough it all. With classic Long Vacation theme, "LaLaLa Love song", playing in background they run into eachothers arms and everyone cheers them. Pffffft! Of course this was all in Kaorukos' head and she snaps out of it to agree with Matsuri to kick Saeko out. That doesn't last long since Saeko comes with aprones she herself washed and ironed and Kaoruko smiles looking at them and comments on good job Saeko did. That is untill she catches Matsuri staring at her with disapproving. Her "NO!" and ditching aprons like hot potatos is so funny!
Souta sits alone in Back Room and can't think of anything for choco bar. Saekos' phone rings so he calls her but freezes when catches Husbands' name on screen. He pretends he never saw it and she turns phone off. He can't bring himself to ask her about call so they talk about choco bar while he thinks: What does she think of me?
Next day, Matsuri comes in to change and Olivier asks her if she wants to go somewhere for spring break. He suggests Hokaido, Okinawa, Kyoto. She seems uneasy and when asked where she wants to go answers with: Disney Sea, Kamakura and places like that. They stare at eachother in silent battle and Olivier is one to back down agreeing on Kamakura. He goes to kitchen and Saeko enters commenting that Kamakura sounds nice. She apologizes for overhearing and compliments Matsuri on being good match with Olivier. She quickly realizes something is wrong and drags Matsuri to cafe. Then we have hilarious part where Matsuri is talking and her voice is altered. Also there are those cubes on her face and she talks like victim of dreadful crime while telling story of guy she used to go out and how he hurt her making her decide not to trust guys any more. Ha! Saeko feels for her but thinks it is weird for girl to lose happiness because of that kind of guy. She just happened to trust wrong guy, that is all. What she should do is to have faith in Olivier and leave up to him to prove he is worth it. After all, Matsuri is young and should make a lot of mistakes so that she know what to do in future. Wow, Saeko is really good in giving advice! At the same moment Olivier is sharing his woes with Souta who thinks it will be ok. Olivier asks about Souta not being worried about Saeko so Sota shares that he is happy but from time to time wonders why Saeko is here. Does she love him or just doesn't want to return home? And when she is with him he can't help but feel lonelier that when he is alone. It is totally different then when he was with Erena. It was like Erena shared his feelings. He knows that the way he acted with Erena doesn't give him the right to say that. He hurt her. Olivier gets message and upon reading it, apologizes to Souta. He is no longer member of SadAndLonely club cause Matsuri sent him that she wants to go to Kyoto and see sakura. Not even Soutas' remark that message is simple can rain on his parade! Cute! Souta comes to shop and looks at sleeping Saeko thinking how distant she looks. Husband is at home and in his head rewinds parts with Saeko where she seemed suspicious like when she was happy he will come later and when she told Souta made choco for her.
Next morning, Kaoruko comes to shop to find Saeko and Matsuri giggling and talking like bffs. Saeko goes to meet a friend and Kaoruko shakes Matsuri reminding her not to fall for evil womans' tricks. But Matsuri defends Saeko saying she is great, reliable person and seems to care for Souta for real. Matsuri goes to work leaving Kaoruko convinced that Koyurugi DNA can't be trusted. Then she gets a message from someone named Sekitani. She can't remember who it is till she reads name properly. It is Sekiya!!! Mesage is this: Kuwashiku(Details). Lol!!! One word! Kaoruko is angry and fumes that after that much time of no reply he sends just 4 characters! Unbelieveable! Souta has to remind they are still in working hours. Actually it is directed to Olivier too cause he is too busy searching trough magazines for good place to stay in Kyoto. Then into the shop walks in Saekos' husband. Iiik! With creepy smile on his face he asks for Souta. Two men greet eachother pleasantly, Husband excuses that he was passing by so he came to greet Souta. They sit and Souta talks about what new product to do for summer. Husband suggests chocolate mousse. He stops shortly to look at Souta before saying that Saeko always had it in fridge and it was delicious. He asks Souta if he saw Saeko, lie-fest begins. Souta says he haven't seen Saeko since Valentines and that chocolates he made was test for new products so he gave it to Saeko AND her husband cause they were success but not really suitable for store. Husband acknowledges that they were perfect and THEY eat it with gusto but had small fight, nothing significant but since he doesn't know any of her friends except from Souta he wanted to ask for info. In the end Souta promises that if she comes he will tell her to grow up and go home. Oh Lord! In the end Souta even goes in front of shop with Husband who asks if he ever hit a woman. Souta right away says no. In his head he replays nights spent with Saeko. He stops husband and apologizes for lying. What?! You will confess now? Train passes and Souta decides not to. Instead he confesses of hitting his sister in head with a ball when they were kids. Though he is smiling this conversation leaves bad taste. Now more then ever he wonders if he knows Saeko at all and will she ever let him know. When Saeko returns home that night she finds him alone in kitchen. He right away tells her that Husband was there. Her expression hardens and she apologizes for involving him before retreating to Back Room. Souta can't believe he is not even considered accomplice and instead being angry runs to Back Room to ask Saeko if she should go home. She must be worried, also her parents must be worried. With disinterested voice he tells him she doesn't have things to be worried, nor does she care for Husband. her parents probably doesn't know and even if they did her mother would probably tell her to go back home and not trouble Husband. Souta feels bad never asking for these things and she says matter-of-factly that they don't have that kind of relationship. She will leave tomorrow. It strikes him and makes him desperate enough to plead for her to stay and not to trow him away. He decides not to think of anything else cause only thing that matters is that...

This episode was more fun then i was thinking, with Matsuri interview time and Sekiya finally answering message(it was almost worth waiting). What was great about Kaoruko is that she would grumble if Erena ended up with Souta but would take Erena before Saeko any day. She may seem too harsh towards Erena but i think that was in order to make Erena realize Souta did bad and there is nothing wrong in trowing tantrum over it.
Btw i decided on new thing i would like Saeko to become: Love guru! She has enough experience in that field though she is unable to pick a guy for herself. But you know what they say: those who can, do, those who can't, teach!
