Umi no Ue no Shinryojo episode 9
This episode was pretty scary in dealing with thing that every woman is afraid of, abuse. On the other hand it shows how important is to have courage and stick for yourself. It is never easy but you feel stronger when you put a stop on it.
IMO they couldn't choose better person to be guest then Eikura Nana cause she could show us how Tomoe should feel and made us feel with her. She has enough acting chops to drag us in situation. Point is that she maybe didn't made great choices in her life but Aoi also never tried to understand her sister and help her. Not to resolve Tomoes' problems but give her courage to find her own path. It is like when daughters start growing up and can do things on their own but mothers shush them saying they are still kids and spoil them in process. That is where i agree with Kota, these two girls just scream at eachother not resolving anything, they needed bridge to connect them.
I really liked Akira in this episode as he showed how great he can be and we could finally see why Aoi choose him. The way he stood up to abusive chauvinistic boyfriend(played by Ishiguro Hideo who did a lot of growing up since 1 Pound no Fukuin) was really beautiful. He didn't stood up just for his wife but the way he reacted when boyfriend talked about Tomoe gave us glimpse of image of a man that he is. And it is miles away from not-ikemen, whiny, cheapskate Owner we knew till now. When he found out he is becoming father i really felt happiness for him. Btw i never thunk they would make Aoi say famous "Sorry for short notice..." line. Brilliant!
Happier themes! I love how Mako is becoming jealous. It is so fun to watch as she is asking with interest questions she would usually just skip. It is even better that Noboru is noticing this and tries to give her somewhat of a push towards Kota. Though she is still not ready to admit anything. He is such golden-heart puppy! I noticed how in last and this episode Kota had more of a support role so i hope next one will be return of Kota! :)
