Owner makes announcement that Hospital director is handing them his Melon for safekeeping. Kota doesn't understand what is a fuss about. Is his Melon so special? Yup, it is. On the other hand, Noboru doesn't pay much attention since he is texting his friend who will meet him on next island. Also Owner has one more thing to say, Mako is sick so she will have to be taken care of. No one is willing to take the task being all afraid of deadly virus that put Mako down, so Owner just assigns Kota with it. When he goes in her room to check on her, Mako has temperature and cold so he checks on her throat. Noboru passes by and misunderstand pose as them kissing. Lol! He goes on the deck all sad where Kota finds him to go on house visits. Noboru slaps a smile but asks Kota not to fall in love with someone else(wishing to protect Mako who he thinks is with Kota). Nope, Kota doesn't understand what it is about but is not willing to sacrifice possibility of falling in love for whatever. Noboru spies his friend who came to meet him and motions her to come in. He hurriedly goes to stuff her behind curtain but Kota is behind and Doctor Aoi wants him to help her with something in room behind curtain. Before Noboru can do anything Kota is stuck with love magic again. Friend, Aki(Sasaki Nozomi) knows Noboru from high school and owns book shop on island. She asks them to come after, Noboru is reluctant but Kota says they will. After visits, Kota wants to go but Noboru informs him Aki has boyfriend and will marry him. That is why Kota comes alone while Noboru meets Aki. They are somewhat awkward but familiar with eachother and she gives him book. Kota in the mean time meets Akis' lil sister, Miwa(it is Yoshida Riko, this talented young girl was adorable in Mei-chan no Shitsuji and Oh! My Girl!! and grew up in beautiful). She is spunky girly and came to make sure her sister will end up with Noboru this time. They liked eachother in high school but he didn't confess. This all takes Kota by surprise, more so when girly informs him he is NOT her type. LOL! Kota enters living room to find everyone staring at him expectantly. They thought he will start his "I am sorry for sudden notice..." speech. LOLOL! When Miwa comes home Noboru is saying goodbye and she calls him to stay(i would not be surprised younger sister confessing to him) but he declines. After that Aki receives a phone call. Noboru is back on the boat and Kota drags him to urge him to be with girl who broke up with her boyfriend. The problem is Noboru can't say the words and broods in his room. His phone rings. Kota on the other hand takes care of Mako with his family traditional recipe against high temperature(grated radish) and she finds him in the morning sleeping by her desk. Owner alerts everyone. Melon is missing! He gets crazy and starts searching their rooms, in the end thinks Noboru did it because: a)he left early b)on his desk was emptied piggy bank and pamphlet about selling things and animals. No one else believes it but whatever. Noboru went to meet Aki and hands her envelope. She thanks him for help saying her father is in hospital. Her bearing makes it obvious that it is not true but Noboru doesn't see it and says she can talk to him always when she has problem. She excuses herself and when he is gone, Miwa sees her sister who hands her Ex money. Kota is with her because he wanted to find Noboru. Miwa is furious that her sister is like this, how could she do that to such nice guy like Noboru and runs away. Kota tries to console Aki and they go after Miwa together. Miwa runs to Ex and orders him to hand her money. He is not inclined to and they engage in tussle so boyfriend falls over edge. Kota and Aki arrive and Ex is transferred to Kaishin Maru. When he gets wheeled to operating room envelope falls from his hand and Noboru stares with horror. So does Aki. But our brave puppy doesn't let it weighting on his mind for too long and he does his job as he should. When Kota informs Aki that Ex is fine, she is so relieved. Feeling embarrassed, she asks Kota to return envelope to Noboru. After hospital boat comes to transfer Ex, Aki gets ready to come with him. Noboru stops her to return a book and confesses he liked her. Since she is his first love she is important to him. How can anyone not like this guy!!! Who cares if he can't utter words, i will confess! On the way to mainland, Aki opens book to find envelope with money tucked in. Awwwww! She cries. That is right, you should cry! Noboru is staring at the sea, alone. Kota comes to tell him he was pretty cool and teaches him to say thank you even for bad things that happen. This bromance is too sweet! Later, everyone find out that Kota is not feeling well. He got Makos' germs so she goes to take care of him. Awww! Since he has headache she shares her families' medicine- pickled sour plums on temples. He is against it since he doesn't like to eat them! Ha! Such a kid! Mako goes on deck where Noboru is and hands him flan. Awww, she is so used to give them! Though i think she wishes to give one to Kota! Noboru lights up like puppy that he is! AWWWW! He asks about her and Kota but she totally denies. It makes him even more happy and he wants to confirm that she doesn't like Kota. Ummmmm! Lucky for her, Noboru gets called in and she doesn't need to answer but she seems to know she likes Kota who is in his bed with pickled plums taped on his temples.
It is so hard when you ship everyone with their crushes! Its like i would like to make clones of them all so that no one ends up alone! One more thing this drama does good is making fun situations but letting us feel for our characters. Like when they took that "appearing slipper"(the one that Mako uses to slap Kota when he is not behaving, LOL) and make Noboru the one to use it this time! Lol! It is great twist on their own brand of funny and you cannot be immune to it. Every time i am waiting to see those small things because they make otherwise predictable story line really enjoyable.
