A review of my classes so far:
Seminar: Images of the Body
-- This class sounded really fascinating when I signed up. I loved the reading list, Virginia Woolf, Walt Whitman, Kate Chopin. But then I get to class, and one of the first things the prof says is that she has cut out Virginia Woolf, the author I wanted most to read. Damn. But I think it'll turn out ok, except I hate writing summaries.
French: Compostions and Conversations
-- I love my French prof. She's awesome. And Sartre is hard...
Art History:
-- A continuation of Art History from last semester, but with a different prof. This one seems great. The first lecture consisted of a discussion of Children of Men, fashion editorials from the New Yorker, and a ranking of the most expensive paintings ever. And this is the good semester, with the Renaissance and Impressionism, and Modern Art. I can't wait.
Chinese
-- A class full of Asians. What else can I really say?
Historical Origins of Human Rights
-- I can already tell this class is going to be awesome. The prof opened the first lecture with "I accidentally burned myself yesterday, so if my lecture seems drug-induced, don't worry, this is the only one." And one of the readings in the syllabus is followed with "(skim the parts you think are boring)"
And of course my bank account has gone down several hundred dollars after buying all those damn textbooks. Ah, the joys of college life.
Oh yes, and Katie got me addicted to Doctor Who. I'm already in love with Christopher Eccleston, but I'm told the best is yet to come in the form of David Tennant.
