Well, Ophelia died two days ago. She died on the way to the vet to put her down. We buried her in the shade garden beneath our ash tree.

It's odd; I still keep an eye out for clothing left on the floor (lest Ophelia pees on it), and I'm afraid of tripping over bowls of food that are no longer there.

I'm back from Teaching Drum, and I'm still adjusting to things back in civilization. It's way too bright at night to sleep here, even in the 'burbs. We don't eat bear fat; we do eat carbs and dairy. Well, it seems that Li'l Em is about to go the same route as Harley. She's got exactly the same thing: sudden growth of a giant tumor (in less than 24 hours it's the size of a shooter marble) on her side.
