this was a reply i just posted to a comment on a friends post about marriage... i had to share it here cause i found it to be a good representation of how i feel and slightly humorous at the same time...
there should be no gov't sanctioned marriage.. there should be legal contracts to share assets and proceeds from employment as well as debt and life responsibilities between to human beings, note there was no gender,color,nor planet of origin specified there. the entity called marriage should be something that is decided on between you and your legal partner and based upon your beliefs and desires. this would be done by the church or spiritual group of your choice and be your way of confirming your intertwining of noodly appendages to the flying spaghetti monster and nothing more.
