~57th Dance~

Are the unattached masses really so insecure about it that they have to be fretting over Saint Valentine's already? By having the forethought to insist that you don't care two weeks ahead of time, you're being contradictory. And of course, mind-numbingly irritating.

As for me, I only wish that I could be home for it. My father tends to brood.

I think you have to see a point to a holiday in order to fret over it. For me, it's a reminder to get to the owlry to send Gran a birthday card.

Is that her birthday? The poor woman, it must be such a bother.

Her birthday is on the 17th, but it takes a bit of time for an owl to fly all the way to Bristol. If I want to make sure her card gets there on time, I send it on Valentines Day.

I see. Good luck finding one that isn't covered in silly hearts.

Thanks. Fortunately, she likes flowers and the colour pink, so I stand a chance.

[He might not be the most socially adept, but a suggestion does occur to him.]

Maybe you could send your father a card. Just to let him know you're thinking of him.

Of course. I don't see any way I could forget, I try to write twice a week.
