Are the unattached masses really so insecure about it that they have to be fretting over Saint Valentine's already? By having the forethought to insist that you don't care two weeks ahead of time, you're being contradictory. And of course, mind-numbingly irritating.

As for me, I only wish that I could be home for it. My father tends to brood.

I don't think I'll have to worry about Valentine's Day this year.

It sounds like it would be a welcome change.

It's a dumb holiday and kids become dumb because of it.

I don't think it's stupid, but certainly not important enough to warrant feeling sorry for yourself if you can't participate.

What else are they gonna think about when they're being surrounded by couples and all that love business.

What I think about is how much better off I am without another person trying to tell me what to do.

They're just saying that in the hopes that if they say it enough, they'll start to believe it. It's sad, really.

I don't feel sad for them the slightest bit, I prefer the word pathetic.

Oh, I don't know. Not only are they sad, I think they're rather entertaining.

I think you have to see a point to a holiday in order to fret over it. For me, it's a reminder to get to the owlry to send Gran a birthday card.

Is that her birthday? The poor woman, it must be such a bother.

serpent_child January 29 2011, 22:17:22 UTC
Her birthday is on the 17th, but it takes a bit of time for an owl to fly all the way to Bristol. If I want to make sure her card gets there on time, I send it on Valentines Day.

No, not at all. I do care, but not for the same silly reasons as everyone else.

Fine, be that way. vertulpen January 29 2011, 22:43:07 UTC
Well of course their reasons, compared to yours, must be silly.

Worrying yourself over teenage relationships that won't last, and shouldn't, is silly, compared to family matters.
