[Sabo's standing there when Ace's yelling turns enraged and inanimate objects in the room suddenly become threatened. He was always nearby now, never going far from his brothers, and the earlier shout for Luffy had gotten his attention fairly quickly. The ten year old calls out to Ace but his voice is drowned out, swallowed up in the other's shouting. And then.... then Sabo doesn't get another chance to ask Ace what's wrong because Ace is on fire and Sabo's rooted to the spot, staring at the fire that's engulfing his bigger brother's arm. He can feel the heat of it rising to fill the room and stretch out to him where he's standing in the doorway. He watches as the helpless table starts to burn. All the boy can do is stare. The sight of the fire transports Sabo back to what he remembered before arriving at Discedo, of his tiny ship and his jump at freedom. The World Nobles.. their ship had been so huge, a complete giant as he sailed up to it, and then they'd fired at him, they'd actually shot at him, hadn't they, and the fires that resulted from the attack were reflected by the fires he was seeing in front of him now.

Thankfully, Ace's communicator smashes loudly into the wall, prompting a flinch of surprise from Sabo, and the smaller boy is snapped back into the present. Sweat creates tickling trails down his neck and face as he tries to convince his frozen legs to move. Both the heat and his nerves were getting to him fast... Was he afraid of Ace? That thought jolts Sabo, and he is able to take multiple steps toward his brother.]

A..ACE!! ARE YOU OKAY?! [The ten year old isn't sure what's going on and if he sounds slightly terrified, well... that's because he is.]

YOU'RE ON FIRE!! [Part of him thinks he should be fetching a bucket of water or something because Ace was going to have some nasty burns from that, but he can't will himself to move any further.]

{Sabo. For a moment there he'd forgotten about Sabo. He hadn't meant to, he'd gone years thinking the boy was gone, months only having Luffy here with him in Discedo. But part of him figured where ever Luffy went, Sabo was following at his heels.

Bottom line was, he wasn't thinking. How could he with everything racing in his head. But the familiar voice snaps him out of it and he glances back at the pale haired boy. He's confused at first, not sure why the other seemed so frightened of him.

'you're on fire!' Right. That had him looking at his burning fist for a moment, clenching and unclenching his fingers.} I...

{He didn't know, he couldn't possibly know that this was a part of him. He looked up into that frozen expression, how absolutely terrified of him he was. Needless to say his anger smoldered and in turn the heat died down. He extinguished his hand and fell silent, uncertain how to approach his brother or how to answer his question. He wasn't okay... not really, he wanted to pretend he was. But in truth, he was just as terrified as Sabo. He was worried about Luffy. He also realized that he'd have to tell Sabo the truth as well.

Both of them... would have to suffer the loss.

He couldn't just pass this off, he couldn't pretend it was nothing. It was too glaringly obvious something was wrong. How long had the boy been standing there? He'd no doubt have questions, he wasn't stupid... he'd figure it out eventually. There was no point in dodging.

He swallowed a lump in his throat, wide-eyed expression twisting into a pained defeat. He slowly sunk to the floor and sat back against the fallen couch. He was such a fool.}

Sabo... come here.

[Sabo watches in shock as the fire sinks away. He hadn't realized his heart had been racing until it starts to slow to a more normal pace. There's no awful scorched flesh left in wake of the flames on Ace's arm and distantly he realizes that it must be a devil fruit power, but at the moment he's not thinking of anything except Ace himself as he slowly makes his way over to where the older pirate had settled.
Curious, worried eyes never leave Ace's face. The sound of Ace's voice calling out to him - it was deeply pained, and put a twisting feeling in the little boy's gut. In this moment, the only thing he cared about was if Ace was alright. Nothing else mattered; he could question things later.

Step after step he takes until Sabo is standing at Ace's side, looking hesitant and still a little unsettled. He's close enough he could reach out to touch his brother but he doesn't.]

Ace..... [Sabo tries to keep his voice steady. After what he just witnessed, it's hard to. Something was obviously terribly wrong and it worried him immensely.] What's goin' on?

{He couldn't look at the boy, he didn't really have to. He knew he had to be worried about him, his tone alone said that. He reached out for the burning table, tugging the flames and beckoning them to him. They slithered and danced across the floor to his waiting hand. He literally picked up the flames and held them in his palm so that Sabo could see. He watched them flicker and sway a moment.

He wasn't even sure where to start with all of this or what to say... so, instead he chose to let Sabo ask the questions.

His eyes drift past the flames to the discarded straw hat.} ... Luffy went home.
