{Have some footsteps, and rustling like someone's moving about the apartment looking for something or someone.}
LUUUUFFYYYYY!! OOOooooooiii, WHERE THE HELL ARE YA!?
Shit, c'mon Luffy, stop playing around, where did you go? I -- {Sounds like he might have found something. Everything kinda goes quiet here. There's a soft noise, like the sound a wicker basket makes when it's moved, only... smaller, lighter, a straw hat maybe?}
... Why would you leave this behind... {He forgot it was still recording for a moment. Another pause... because Ace knows he wouldn't have forgotten his hat. And he's searching the frequencies... only to find Luffy's is gone.}
No.
{ There is a snap and crackle, followed by a whoosh. Could be the pirate is losing his cool here. Cue something being over turned or kicked. Then shouting into the comm so the Scientists could hear him.}
WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU PLAYING AT!!! HOW COULD YOU-- DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT HE'S GOING TO HAVE TO FACE!! {There is the rush of air as the communicator is tossed. It slams against a wall and shuts off. Ace wanted the kid to go home sure, he knew he'd one day have to face his fate. But... he wasn't expecting this so soon. It had to happen, but... it was going to be absolute hell for Luffy, he could only imagine what he'd be going through.}
((Editing for roommates who may be in the building for all of this. I'm totes open to comment logs.))
{Ace had come home looking for Luffy for one reason or another, possibly to get Sabo and go out hunting together or maybe go to the lights. Any sort of brotherly time spent, he could use a good bit of time with his family now that they were together again. He really started getting frustrated when the kid wasn't home. He couldn't remember the Captain saying he was heading out, but leave it to Luffy not to mention it. That's when he decided to broadcast it over the comms, if Luffy was out and about he'd hear him. Until of course he found out the truth of the matter... Luffy wasn't here.
He always had wished the kid could be sent home, but this wasn't quite what he wanted. Somewhere in the back of his mind he'd known the boy would have to eventually face his death again. Luffy knew the truth, he'd found out when he'd come back, but it wouldn't help the straw hat captain at all. He wouldn't remember Discedo as soon as he went home. History would repeat itself and Luffy was going to suffer horribly. So much so that it was going to break him and he was going to fall into a coma. He knew that much thanks to Crocodile's visit.
After that? Ace didn't know what would happen. He could only hope someone would take him to safety. The boy had to make it out alive, he just had to. He was Luffy. He would survive somehow, he just had to keep faith. But he'd be lying if he wasn't completely worried about the outcome. Would he see his brother again? He'd have to wait at least a week... that's the usual amount of time people were gone, at minimum. Until then... he'd be left to worry and wander and wait. But he'd be there for the boy if he could.
Still, this was a low blow. First the scientists get his hopes up with the arrival of Sabo and Belldandy, then they take his little brother away to suffer. It was torture. Those fucking scientists just didn't know when to quit. It didn't help that he was already in a bad mood.
So maybe he was over reacting a little, getting so worked up that the very air around him began to sizzle. He'd kicked over the couch in his anger and lit a small end table on fire. His fist was still ablaze, the rest of his body near boiling and ready to burst into flame at any moment. The air rippled and wavered around him from the heat, no doubt the apartment was starting to get humid and uncomfortable. He was seething, trying his best to calm his racing thoughts and the storm of emotions raging in his chest.}
Dammit.
