Sanity calms, but madness is more interesting. -John Russell

"I want to tell her," Nikki stated to the mirror a few times, just to make sure she had the right expression on her face. She'd been lying to her sister for so long now that it felt natural to do it, and really it was becoming such an elaborate lie that she knew one day she'd slip up, or her sister would drop by unannounced to meet this wonderful guy and then... well then Nikki knew she'd be screwed.

"I think I should tell her," Nikki tried again. The words were less demanding, more of a suggestion because she didn't want him to feel like he wasn't part of this choice. It involved him as well, and if she was going to have any sort of relationship with her sister... it was going to have to be this eventually.

"Do you think we should tell her?" Nikki laughed at that, because it was taking all the control away from her. Taking herself even out of the equation and that was madness all on it's own. That was giving in because she knew he'd tell her she was crazy.

In Nikki's mind though the con never ended. In Nikki's mind it was still going, but now he was just in on the play. Now it had shifted marks, and once more her sister was on the short end of the stick, and once more her sister was being lied to by James Ford... just it was through her own sister. Shutting her eyes she drew in a deep breath and let it out slowly, "I need to tell her."

It was the only way to explain it, and the only way she figured he'd actually understand, because above it all he knew how it was to need to tell someone the truth in the end... no matter how much it would hurt them.
