We finally got a break. We've been playing every week (sometimes twice a week) for the past two months, so God gave us a greatly needed breather. For the past two weeks, we've focused on getting our focus back. We made some decisions too. Every minute not spent practicing for a gig will be spent writing, we will spend money on recording first and then get a website, we are still on the lookout for a singer but have really started searching, and we've decided to hook-up with Indie Community to help us out with booking. The break might be over this weekend though. We have an opportunity to play a Disciple Now in Guntersville this weekend. We're probably only going to play one night, but the lady in charge said they might need us more I'm ready for it. I can't wait to play.
Things are going good with Heidi. I really do love her. We do have our differences in opinion about things, but I think that makes it interesting. It'd be boring if she was exactly like me. On October 13, we'll celebrate our one year anniversary, and I've never been happier.
Our big sale here at Berean's was last Friday. I do not like sale days. It was one day only and everything in the store was 50% off except for stuff already on sale. The ad in the paper explained all this, but that didn't keep a million (I'm guessing illiterate) people from asking me about these simple rules every five seconds. We did good business, but I'm not so sure it was worth it. I ran around all day long, while at any given time there were about 40 people in the store loudly looking for things. At one point, Jim and I were both behind the Bible counter running back and forth getting things for people (usually it only takes one back there).
We went with our youth group last Saturday to go see By the Tree and Day of Fire at Youth Quake. It was a thousand degrees in Heritage park, but it was very worth it. The bands before them were Instructions to Timothy and Two Bare Feet. They were pretty good, but I was really impressed with the drummer from Two Bare Feet. He was incredible, albeit a bit of a show-off. By the Tree did an incredible job and secured their spot in my list of favorite bands. What got me was that they lead worship. You'd think all they'd do was play their stuff, but they played half and half. The first 4 songs were originals and very upbeat and fun, but the last 4 were regular praise and worship stuff like "Here I am to Worship." It was awesome. Day of Fire was okay, but they're not really my style. All in all, we had fun.
I just got done vacuuming the store a minute ago. I hate vacuuming, especially here because we have the worst vacuum in the world. I thought about trying to explain it to you until I found this
picture. It doesn't look like much, but this is the devil himself in cleaning form. You have to push the vacuum handle part while the rolling thingy drags behind you and very often smacks you in the ankle. It's like trying to vacuum with a blind dwarf tied to your leg. I can't stand it.
Anyways, I've gotta go. Time to clean up around here after that stupid sale.
