When I first heard this song I hated it. I thought they'd jumped on the synths bandwagon, but it seems it's a grower.
I've been reading The End Of Mr. Y by Scarlett Thomas and I'm loving it. One of the quotes from a reviewer read: "Mindboggling, brainy and playful. Stretches from theoretical physics to immensely dirty sex scenes, and packed with ideas.", so pretty much my perfect book. The reader reviews I've seen have all said the ending is a bit crap which I hope it isn't because it's been pretty awesome so far. There was a whole 3 pages or so about
quarks and
quantum mechanics and my head nearly exploded with happy. Quantum mechanics was my favourite physics A level module, and the only one I enjoyed enough to actually try in (I got an A, which I was SO proud of you can't imagine), if only the whole A level had been that and astrophysics rather than all the boring mechanics and electronics which I didn't try quite so hard in. If I'd have taken maths at A level I would have probably applied to do either theoretical physics or astrophysics at university, and my life would be pretty different. But that didn't happen, and here I am. I'm quite happy with my viruses mind, I'm not complaining. I'm quite happy to be a Sunday quantum physicist ;o) Anyway, I ended up chatting to Nigel about a bit of the book I didn't understand (he did a double degree in Theoretical Physics and Astrophysics <3), a bit about
special relativity and we had a lush chat about all kinds of physics-y things and I realised how much I missed other areas of science (but sweet Jesus not chemistry).
In other news I can't stop eating. I'm constantly craving food. I hope this is the nights drawing in and my body desiring another layer of padding, and not something more sinister like some parasite lodged in my womb wanting to feed off me for nine months.
Off to
