I know several people on my friends list are members of Health clubs/gyms. I have a bunch of questions I need to ask.
My doctor has *suggested* I lose some weight. I am also really out of shape and have no energy or stamina anymore. For the last couple months I have been thinking about joining a gym. But I know absolutely nothing about this. Around New Years G actually suggested I look into WOW nearby and very shortly afterward I got a postcard in the mail from Planet Fitness, also nearby. Coincidence maybe? or the Gods trying to tellme something? Anyway...
There is a Planet Fitness less than a mile from my house and the offer on the postcard is thus:
$39. one time start up fee, then $15. a month. No contract, no signing up for six months or a year at a time, just $15 a month guaranteed for three years, cancel/stop at any time by just telling them in writing.
I like this idea of not having to join for a set amount of time. Mostly because if I go and find out it is not for me, I don't waste the money.
I know nothing about gyms at all and have a bunch of questions.
1. Has anyone gone to Planet Fitness? What have you heard about them? Anything good or bad to say about them?
2. Is this a good deal?
3. I plan to go and check out the place before I actually join, what do I look for?
4. What should I ask the people there? What should I expect as a response?
5. I know little about the machines and such, anything I should know that I can ask about?
6. Any particular machines I should look for?
7. How important is a personal trainer?
8. Should I have to pay extra for a personal trainer? if so about how much is reasonable?
Anything else I should know before spending my money on this place?
Thanks.
