Stopping at a convenience store, I saw Throwback versions of
Pepsi,
Mountain Dew, and
Dr. Pepper in 20 oz. bottles. The label stated that they were made with real sugar, and that peaked my interest. A friend of mine had once said that your body will burn sugar off, but
corn syrup just creates a layer of fat.
While splitting the Pepsi, I explained to my daughter how soft drinks started using corn syrup instead of sugar during the mid eighties. After a few sips she stated that she couldn't tell any difference, but to me it wasn't as sweet or as smooth as corn syrup. Nor did it have the really sweet after taste that hits you after drinking what's processed these days. I never noticed that before, and I find it really irritating now.
Later that day while my daughter was at a party, I found myself going back to the refrigerator and taking a few drinks of the other bottles. This was kind of strange, since I usually get tired of drinking soda really quick, but now I couldn't wait to get some more. It was like that when I was a kid.
When my daughter returned home, she was holding a can of Pepsi Throwback saying "They had this at the party, and THIS IS MY THIRD CAN!"
Hmmmm, maybe limited is a good thing.
